California State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP)

Purpose:
The California State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) increases the number of primary care physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, pharmacists, and mental/behavioral health providers practicing in federally designated California Health Professional Shortage Areas.
Description:
California State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) makes awards to eligible applicants from selected medical disciplines for the maximum award amount of $50,000 for a two full-time or $25,000 for a two-year half-time service commitment in a California Health Professional Shortage Area or in a Federally Qualified Health Center. Practice sites must meet SLRP site eligibility requirements in order for the providers, working at that site, to qualify for SLRP.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible Applicants:
- Individual
Must be a U.S. citizen (U.S born or naturalized), possess a valid and unrestricted license to practice your profession in California, be free from judgments arising from federal debt, not have any other existing service obligations with other entities, not be in breach of any other health professional service obligation, be current on any child support payments, and be employed at or accepted employment at a SLRP approved practice site.
Eligible Geographies:
The SLRP applicants must work in a Health Professional Shortage Area or in a Federally Qualified Health Center within the State of California.
